The Northern Tier is GOD's country. I went there the first time in 1972
through the BSA Charles L. Summers Wilderness Canoe Base -- the Scout Camp
just North or NorthEast of Ely, MN. We went into Canada the first day and
stayed there about 9 days. I'd highly recommend it over a local outfitter.
Don't get me wrong many of the local outfitters are very good but for a 1st
time Scout experience you can't beat the BSA Canoe Base up there. That's
just my opinion. Taking your canoes into Canada is an extra special
experience I recommend. Good Luck.
