It never, ever ceases to amaze me how much misinformation is given by
people on a realitivily simple process..... a badge can be earned
anytime after a scout has registered with a troop... this idea of
not beign awarded until after 1st Class is a new one and I thought I had
heard them all....

Are you asking how long a Scout has to complete a badge.... or how much
time it takes to get it done...
Insofar as the first question... I believe that common wisdom is that a
Scout has to complete a badge before his 18th birthday.....
The only real mention of time I have seen is with the Hiking merit badge
which says that the Scout should do some write-ups within 30 days after
the last required hike. there of course may be others and infact I
would be interested in knowing what they are....
