I have run the SMF course twice now. Both times BY THE SYLLABUS.
We run an all day Saturday (could be Sunday)...Then a week or 2 later the
short evening... and have used the Friday night into Saturday night
option both times. Participants have been pleased.
I guess my biggest gripe is that when councils or districts or whatever
stray from this format, it is difficult for leaders to "make up" a session.
We have had people who could not make 1 session say or perhaps the
weekend due to a troop commitment. When they go looking for another
course to make it up...they find that the course has been rearranged so
that they cannot get what they need or they sit throu the same stuff.
By standardizing the course and its schedule we provide greater
flexability to our leaders and strive to offer the same info in TX as
well as N.H.
