I'd change your "can" to "may" in the above paragraph. Unless an adult
scouter is in excellent physical shape, he'd better not even TRY to earn
the BSA lifeguard certification. It's a killer. Much better for the 16
and 17 year olds than the 40-somethings.
Excellent training, though.
(My SM earned it when we went to summer camp two years ago. When he
wasn't in the water, all he wanted to do was sleep. I've never seen him
so bushed. Last summer,, he took the older scouts to an
aquatics-oriented camp (former corporate retreat resort) where the staff did
everything. Played golf all week. Came home more rested. :-) )
