The question of what the boys want has arisen.
That needn't be a project for a professional polster or the result of some
well crafted questionaire.
I've been an adult Scouter for 25 years. I can't remember the boys ever
bringing up the subject of wanting girls in Scouting.
The boys are not shy around me. If there's something they don't like or
something they want, they let me know about it. Every time I hear the
question of coed Scouting it is brought up by an adult. Maybe my
experience is unique, but I never hear it brought up by boys.
A very simple survey can be done right here on Scouts-L. How many
Scouters out there have heard the subject of coed Scouting discussed by
Scouts? Either in a positive or negative light, how many have heard it
discussed at all?
I don't have strong feelings either way. If it went coed, I would still
work in Scouting and support it. The program is there for the boys, how
do they feel about it? If it's broken, let's fix it, if not, let's leave
I think if the program was broken, the boys would have told us about it
by now. I haven't heard anything at this end, how about anyone else out
