I just wanted to drop a note and brag a little bit. This past
weekend, my Explorer post hosted our districts yearly Freeze-O-Ree. While it
may not have been freezing, the damp ground and clear night sky made it cold!
We broke all kinds of records at this Freeze-O-Ree. We had 335
Registered Scouts and Scouters, 13 Senior Staff explorers, and our Local
Police Post came out with 5 of their members to assist in registration,
moving vehicles out of the campsite, and as a security patrol at night to
assure nothing hapened. We had a letterman style campfire complete with the
Top 10 list that was entitled the top 10 reasons to be a Boy Scout, Mailbag,
and instead of giving out the canned Ham, we gave out the canned spam.
At the campfire we had a Order of the Arrow Call out where we had 36
members called out. The campfire concluded with a dedication of the
camporee to 2 departered brothers, one staffer who was recovering from
surgery, and to my Explorer Post. These gentlemen worked for 6 months on
this event, and I was never as proud of these guys as I was this weekend.
Like I told them, with their spirit and attitude, there is nothing they can
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I just wanted to let as
many people know how proud I am of my post.
Yours in Scouting
