An angry Scout approached me with this problem and I told him that I
would get some advice from fellow Scouters to help us both.
This Scout is 15 years old been in the program since Tiger Cubs.
Made Life three years ago and has been siting there ever since.
His Dad is the Committee Chairman.
Last August, I approached him about starting to think about his Eagle

After several weeks without hearing from him, I set a meeting only
to find that he had not given it any other thought or work.
That was fine with me.
Mom and Dad really started pushing.
He filled out the application, with an idea for a project and set a

He did nothing until three days before the project.
It was a semi-dud of a project because there really was no advance
work or advertisement (Clothing drive)
He had three Merit badges to finish each with one requirement to go.
Has not done them yet.
So, now it's almost March.
He is upset that I will not consider his six months of Senior Patrol
Leadership for his eagle requirements and am making him take another
six months of a leadership position.
During his SPL term, he took off two months for football and was
replaced by his ASPL, during the six months he did not attend any
camp-outs, PLC meetings, fund raisers.
When he did attend the meetings, he was more of a hand full than the
new 11 year old Scouts!
He and his Dad seem to feel that if I really tried, I could pick and
choose six months of leadership during his three years of Life rank
to fulfill this obligation.
I don't feel that I can do it.
I fact I won't do it.
I don't think that he has fulfilled his obligations to become and
wear the rank of Eagle.
I told this to him and his Dad.
Dad says that his son will give it one last try and if it doesn't
work this time he is quitting.
It is now one month into his supposed SPL second term and a have
