In case anyone cares? One group I belong to sometimes uses stickers on the
bottom of a cup or saucer (one to a table) to award the prizes.
Sometimes the door-prize lady calls out a date and the person with the
birthday closest to that date wins. Other times, there are streamers
running from the centerpiece to each place and at the end of one streamer
is a ticket saying DOOR PRIZE. Last fall, there was a rolled souvenir at
each place; one had a ticket saying DOOR PRIZE.
Of course, sometimes the one empty place in the room wins the prize, but
that's part of the fun.
This might not work well with Cub Scouts, I'll agree, but maybe there's a
germ of a useable idea?
