Kim, we do this at our pack meeting. It is a simple but elegant
Once it looks like the boys will continue with the troop we give them a
scout handbook and merit badge book.
A couple of other notes, we let all boys cross even if they don't want
to join a troop if they "fill out the boy scout application". The $1.25
is well worth not excluding a boy and you know....... we actually got
about 1/2 of those who weren't going to continue to join the troop.

At our Blue and Gold, the Webelos will be recognized with an Arrow of
ceremony. After this ceremony, all the boys who are going into Boy
will cross the bridge, be stopped halfway and have their blue epaluets
replaced with the red shoulder strips before continuing on to be met by
their Scoutmaster on the other side.
Simple ceremony, and the first time we do it will be this Saturday. The
committee seemed to like the idea of stopping the boy and replacing the
epaulets. (Cubmaster training class is where I got the idea...gotta
