The Scouting Online forum on AOL will be running a special online chat on the
AOL service, Saturday February 22nd, from noon to midnight Eastern Standard
Time (This is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, 1700 to 0700 GMT.)
If you use the AOL service, we invite you to bring your Girl Guides and Girl
Scouts online this Saturday to meet and chat with other girls around the
world. Access is via the path:
As you enter the chat room you will be asked to introduce yourselves with
giving your troop number and program level, city or town, state or province
or country, and the first (given) names of all the girls with you.
The chat is being organized and hosted by girls for girls. Katie, a Senior
Girl Scout from the Rhode Island Girl Scout Council, is the manager of the
hosting team. Our projection and hope is that we will see a thousand Guides
and Scouts from three hundred troops and units.
The chat will periodically be interrupted by a call for silence, using the
words, "Sign's Up", or the symbol "|||". This will be done so that girls can
present short ceremonies, songs, poems;. If you are a member of other than
the GSUSA, we urge you to present your Girl Guide Promise or Girl Scout
Promise as one of the ceremonies.
Leaders are asked to used the AOL 'Instant Message' private messaging
facility to communicate with each other. This will leave the main 'chat
room' screen for the girls to use.
Please contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you, and we hope
to see many of you this Saturday!
