I'm not Bruce, but let's look at this in the real world. Explorers is
coed, having been so for ~25 years. Local groups have the option of
being all-male, all-female, or mixed. Can you cite any examples of
lawsuits which have forced a single-sex group to admit members of the
opposite sex? If not, then I would propose that perhaps Bruce is not
the one who needs the reality check.
Personally, I feel that the right of the BSA (and the GSUSA and other
groups) to determine who they will admit into the program is a right
which must be maintained. What I suggest is not giving up on this, but
adapting to a better model (one which allows the program to help more
people while still maintaining the local control over particulars).
