World War II GI's lived on this stuff during the war.
I have fond memories of my very first primitive campout. Camped by a
stream. We had thunder and lightning and it poured so much the stream
overflowed and totally washed away the whole camp (my tent was the only
one that stood, although it had 6 inches of water in it, and some corners
down). When the storm finally passed the only thing left for sustanance
was our SPAM! Spam for dinner, spam for breakfast, and again for lunch!
Gotta love that spam!
I have since tasted it again and wonder why it tasted so good on that
wet, wet weekend. It does have it endearing qualities though. :-)
