I wanted to let you all know that I had made some changes/additions to my
Scouting webpages. They start at:
Of interest to some of the "techies" here, is that I have added a form at
the bottom of some of the pages for visitors to submit URL's to me they
think should be added. It's not a technological feat, by any means, but it
may give someone some ideas... <g> I like adding URL's to my pages <g>, and
as those on Arrow-l know, I will potentially have a lot of "free time" on my
hands after this Friday!
I also wanted to make a couple of observations about things I've seen on web
First, if you create a page for your unit, PLEASE, tell us where you are.
Give your city or town. Not everyone will know that the Great District of
Magnificent Council, BSA serves Anytown, Illinois.
Be careful with your use of graphics. Not everyone has a 28.8 modem! I do
but still am terribly impatient when it comes to the World Wide Wait. Some
commercial sites designed by graphic artists are horrible in this regard.
Scouters and Scouts should avoid the trap of using too many graphics.
Be careful with the use of frames. Not everyone has browsers that can
handle these is *much* more widespread, IMO, so I don't give much thought to
it) Give a user a chance to still browse your page if he cannot use frames.
Also, make sure your pages then "work" if someone if viewing what you
intended to be frames as separate pages.
Just a few quick thoughts...
