My troop hasn't had an Eagle since I became scoutmaster. However, when I
earned my Eagle in Missouri, in 1982, the only Eagle paraphenalia that I
wore before my Court of Honor was the Eagle pin, and that was for an
article in the local newspaper. Other than that, I didn't wear anything
until it all came back.
This raises another issue, I believe. When adults turn in awards, or
boys, for that matter, and it has been completed (such as a religious
award, or scouter's training award, things like that) should the adult or
boy have to wait until the award is "received" by the troop or district
to begin wearing the square knot, or, since a scout is honest, and the
award has been completed and application signed by the appropriate
person(s), can he or she begin wearing the square knot right away?
