Not a lot of positive response yet to my announcement that our Troop was
having a Court of Honor to award 17 boys their Eagle badge. Perhaps I
should've made things a little clearer.
1. When most of these Scouts joined our Troop, we had just completed a
project to list all our Eagle Scouts on a plaque at our Scout Hut. The
Scoutmasters then used to encourage the boys by challenging them to work hard
to get our Troop total up to 50 Eagle Scouts. Everybody wanted to be in the
2. Years later, the parents of several of the boys (a small number
originally) proposed a joint Eagle COH. Then it was suggested that we try to
get enough guys together to push the Troop up to the 50 milestone. All Scouts
within a year or so of finishing up their Eagle were invited to try for the
COH. We needed only 11 to make the 50 goal. We got 17.
3. Parents, not Scout leaders, came up with the idea for the mass COH. The
boys gave their approval. It's gonna happen.
Now, any positive suggestions? Re media coverage, etc.? As a father whose son
elected not to rush to finish up and join the crowd, I understand where folks
are coming from. I'm just trying to make the utmost of the cards being dealt.
Again, would appreciate any replies send directly to DA6ver6@aol.com.
Thanks for the help from the List I've received so far.
