Yesterday's message about message scrolling touched a nerve; I decided
to respond in support of that message..
Don't y'all write any lines more than about 70 characters wide; write
in a fixed font so that you can see the width. I suspect that there
are more than 30 different mail editors there, from MS Word to Edlin
to vi (vi is the main UNIX editor) in the range of capabilities; It
would be very considerate of all of us to provide a message which can
be read relatively easily by all. An now, since I have butted in, I
might as well get all my wants in one bag, so that you will only ha
ve to ignore me once..
Line length no more than 70 characters
NO attachments, under any conditions; those encoded messages are a
BEAR (buffalo? antelope?) to decode. Put the text into the body of
3 NO HTML.
4. Pure text; no control characters; no special formatting.
5. And you list managers: keep the digests below 60k in size; Juno
and some other handlers truncate at 60k.
Yeah, yeah, I know, not my list. Just delete this message and get on
with some real work.
