Hi! I've actually created something on my own. How about that? Well,
tomorrow is roundtable, and they asked us to bring in ideas of our own for
Blue & Gold. Our roundtable commissioner has been in scouting for 30+ yrs,
and said she'd like to see something new. So, I actually came up with
something on my own.
Have any of you seen the Perler Melt/Fuseable beads? They come with little
boards with pegs on them. You put the beads on them. Once you have your
design in place, you put some paper (looks like wax paper to me) on it and
then iron them together. Well, I've done LOTS of things with these beads.
The obvious choice is coasters. Well, a person can only have so many
coasters. I've bought magnetic tape and made refrigerator magnets. I've
even made keychains & Christmas ornaments with them.
Tonight, I made something cub scout with them! I took each of the diamond
ranks and rendered them rather well on small squares. OK, so I didn't write
out the rank and didn't put in the fleur-de-lis. But, still people
understood what rank they were, and they seemed recognizable to me. I used
yellow for the border, and had a pretty decent match of colors all around.
And, when I put them all together, they fit perfectly. These four will be
drink coasters for our family at blue & gold. But, each den could make them
for blue & gold. They don't take a lot of time now that I have the patterns
worked out. I even made an arrow of light. I am stumped on how to make one
for Tiger Cubs, though. I suppose, if they were getting their
bobcats...they could use that. If anyone has suggestions on how to do a
Tiger, it needn't be square, I'd appreciate it. I had thought some of doing
it circular white trim, orange background and just a black paw print. I may
try it yet. Well, I'm just thrilled with how they look and thought maybe
some of you would like to try it, if not for this Blue & Gold but for next year.
PS Please, don't ask for graphics or scans or any of that. I'd love to be
able to do it, but just don't have the resources or abilities.
