Ten years ago, we were afraid we would lose one or both our camps for lack
of enrollment. One camp was down to two weeks with niether filled. The
other camp operated for four weeks and had one or two filled. Now both
camps run seven weeks and are already full every week for summer 1997.* We
made some program and facility improvements but the thing that sold the camp
nationwide was a free video made by some volenteers and our professional
staff. You get one in a district and it will pass around to troop meeting
and roundtables. Whether they come depends on what you have to offer
compared to what they already have, but the video is the way to sell it.
Pictures are the next best thing to being there.
*We do have a few openings in our high knoll program.
