I have been "on the net" for about a year now on America On Line, I have been
a member of this forum for a short period of time. I would have never been
involved with either without the encouramement of Ed Henderson, who is
Scoutmaster of Troop 12 in our council.
I can not think of anyone who has done more for scouting in our council than
Ed, and no one has been a more tireless promoter of Camp Thunder than he has.
We really do have a good camp and at every event I have ever been to he has
been there running the Trading Post, Doing Campfires, and being the Chaplain
on Sunday services.
The post of Jack Sears on December 20th gave me the impression that Ed was
fired from Flint River Council. I checked and nothing could be further from
the truth. He has never been a full time employee of the council which
actually suprised me since he does so much. He is a very active volunteer
who is on the summer camp staff (they all get paid then) and he has been the
Business Manager for as long as I can remember at Camp Thunder. Several
months ago he told me he was leaving his volunteer job at Camp Thunder but
stayed on through the end of the year.
I am troubled that a person such as Ed has been slammed by our Scout
Executive on the Internet. He has done nothing but help our camp & council.
He recently gave a West Contribution to the council for his father who is in
poor health. He has helped many scouts and cubs in our council, and many of
us rely on him for ideas and suggestions. Mr. Sears does not speak for me on
the Internet, and I for one, am proud to associate myself with Ed Henderson.
