Welcome, Jeff. I've been here a couple of years, on and off when I've had
access. I do a fair amount of lurking and due to time restraints, don't read
everything, just what seems to apply to me. Just don't have time for the
whole thing. What I do read, however, is extremely informative and helpful.
Not meaning to taint my hearty welcome with something negative, but I have
to say that I wasn't very happy about that disclaimer. I'm an intelligent
fellow and I can pretty easily tell when someone is representing the BSA or
a council. In fact, in this forum, I don't care who is posting--they don't
say anything official here. I assume that nothing official will ever be said
here and that no one posting, even if they are an employee of the BSA, would
use this as a forum for asserting any kind of official authority. This isn't
the place any of us would get our policy from. I think we're all smart
enough to know better. No disclaimers are necessary.
This is an international forum and for more than just members of the BSA.
Other youth organizations are represented here, so it should be obvious we
are not a BSA organ.
The best thing about this forum is how "A Scout is Courteous" and "A Scout
is Friendly" are epitomized in the things we say. My opinion about that will
not last long if I see too many messages flung around about who speaks for whom.
So, with Scout spirit galore, and heartily welcome you and extend a friendly
invitation to Mr. Sears to join us too. I promise to not hold him to
anything he says as if it were official.
