Not just in uniform ... people at school, work or whatever judge us by
whether we live up to the values out of uniform.
When I talk about the Law and Promise to new Cub Scouts we talk about
things like doing our best and helping other people ... I ask the kids if
they are the first to be quiet when the teacher starts the lesson, if they
always do their homework assignments properly ... About 80% of the boys
in the school are in Scouting, and I ask if that means that only the
others get into trouble ?
Fortunately we are required to " do your best " rather than be paragons
of virtue ... I think it was Mother Theresa who said the trouble with
saints was they are so hard to live with.
