We did it as a Pack 2 summers ago. The boys loved it, and so did the
dads. The ALL seemed to remember playing as a boy. It was the first
time we had every dad down on the ground, participating.
It's also quite inexpensive.
1. The circles in the Marble book (10 feet across?) were
too large for all the younger boys. The just don't have the motor
or marble skills yet. So have several sized areas, and experiment
before the tournament. Younger siblings will also want to
participate, so a smalle circle for them is a good idea.
2. Most of the shooters we could find were way to large for the Cubs
to handle. We made due, by ignoring some rules violations with
regard to shooter control. Smaller shooters would have been better.
Basically, a great activity, because everyone has fun.
Our prizes? Bags of marbles (the ones they had just played with).
My wife sewed up some nice bags to put them in.
