I got a call last night regarding the following poem. It
has been used as a closing ceremony by Pack 8 in Brookfield CT.
They want to publish it in their local paper and were seeking
the Authors Name to get permission to publish it.
This is the only place that I can think of to find that
information. Please, if you have any information as to where
this poem is from please email me directily at
Thanks in advance for the help.
SA Troop 62 Monroe, CT
I took a piece of plastic clay
And idly fashioned it one day.
And as my fingers pressed, it still
bent and yielded to my will.
I came again when days have passed.
The bit of clay was hard at last.
The form I gave it, still it bore,
But I could change that form no more.
I took a piece of living clay
And gently formed it, day by day.
And molded with my power and art
A young child's soft and yielding heart.
It came again when years were gone,
It was a man I looked upon.
Who still those early impressions bore
And I could change Him nevermore.
