In a recent post, Mark Vereb asks about official guidelines for Cubs
with disabilities. While not specifically discussing learning
disabilities, page 133 of the Cub Scout Leader Book does discuss
advancement for handicapped Scouts, saying that the standard for every
boy when it comes to advancement should be "Has he done his best?" We
have taken this to heart when it comes to the physically handicapped
scouts in our pack as well as those with learning or other disabilities.
Involving the scout's parents in this has been most helpful, as they are
probably the best judge of when the Cub has done his best. Hope this
