A poster on scouts-l recently posted about patches CUT from
blankets at campfires or arena shows. Some pathces can become
VERY hot items at the jambo. The security of your personal
items and patches is important. My son left his second scout
shirt hanging to dry. He had one of his ONLY 3 Jamboree council
patches on the shirt. Someone took his shirt! Some one else
got into his day pack, and took his 3rd CSP and a few of the
HOT jambo patches that he had traded for.
We have been able to replace the other patches after the jambo
for FAR less than the "JAMBO PRICE". However, they are not
really the ones he traded for. We have never replaced the lost
Jambo council patches! They still cost TOO much!
My son kinda lost interrest in patch collecting after the jambo,
and in fact, it may have helped his decision to become much
less active in scouting.
