For the guides across the sea...
Obviously turkey is a little hard to make while you're camping. Unless, of
course you have a dutch oven.
The traditional dinner at my home for Thanksgiving included...
stuffing (mom's secret recipe)
fresh green beans
pearl onions in cream sauce
pickles & olives
Pies: pumpkin, apple, mince
Other traditional foods at other folks houses, and stuff I've learned growing up
sweet potatoes (yams)
sweet potato pie
home made pasta (my husband's grandmother is Italian, can you tell?)
For drinks, it was always wine for the adults with dinner, coffee
afterwards. We kids got to have cranberry juice. Or sometimes, tomato
juice. As we got older it was eggnog, but I think that was mostly so we
would go to sleep early.
re:the what to eat with cornbread...if the cornbread is not too dry, it is
eaten like a roll would be. If it is dry, it is usually covered with
butter, and then consumed *wink*
