I have received about ten positive responses about a my proposal. I
created a first pass for all of us to check out. I also wanted to
present a couple of the ideas that were sent to me directly:
>Hmm. You should, of course, seek the permission/cooperation of the List
>Owner, Jon Eidson (email@example.com) about this.
If Jon is listening, :-), and he would like to originate this message
from the listserver, that would be great. It is not a problem for me
to setup a cron job here. However, this does imply that we, (the list),
feels that this is a good idea.
>..................................... One point I would like to see
>you make is on the subject line. Between Arrow-L, Scouts-l, and
I have included my SWAG for the Subject line.
>May I suggest that you frame your 12 points of etiquette along the lines
>of the scout law?
This was a toughie. I didn't have a whole lot of luck. I was able
to use a few of the points. (I am on the fence with the last two, it just
doesn't look right :-)
>................. if possible include the url link to the
>Scouts-L web page coverage of the full intro and instructions
Up, I did.
The following is my first pass for the posting. Any further ideas?
Should I/we continue with this weekly posting thread?
>Subject: Scouts-L Netiquete Nudge [Weekly Posting]
This is the Weekly Scouts-L Netiquete Posting. It includes a few simple
guidelines for our Mail List. Please take a moment to review these.

Please No Flaming, - "A Scout is Courteous".
We have all agreed to disagree, please leave any 3G's issues at the door.
When Quoting a previous message include only a few lines and use the
Usenet ">" indent convention, - "A scout is Thrifty".
Try to keep your message line length to 72 characters, many mailers wrap
your prose at "funny" places. Making your ideas difficult to follow.
Please include simple "Sigs" - Name, Council, Town. Try to limit your
sig to 4 or 5 lines, - "A scout is Helpful"
When ever possible reply directly to the sender, not to the entire list.
Uppercase letters is considered SHOUTING, use care when typing.
If the current thread's topic is "drifting", update the Subject: line.
Thank you. Last updated: Nov. 5, 1996
