My name is Mark Vereb. I'm going to be the new (about to be
inducted) Cub Master of Pack 1156, Blue Ridge District in the
National Capital Area Council. I have four children: a daughter
(who with my wife as their leader has been in the Girl Scout
organization for four years) and three boys, the oldest of which
has just joined up with the Tiger Scouts (he couldn't wait to be
old enough). At sign-up night, I was informed that there was an
opening for CubMaster and, since there are two other brothers
waiting in the wings, I figured I might as well jump in now and get
both feet wet. Both my son and I are excited about what's in store
Our Webelos Den Leader has done this (CM) before and said he would
be available to help out whenever/however I need it, so I'm not
completely alone in this area but I sure have a lot to learn! I've
seen the Fast Start tape and recently attended our Pow-Wow but am a
little nervous about running my first Pack meeting...
Suggestions about gathering activities, specifics on Opening and
Closing ceremonies, games and award presentations would be greatly
appreciated (I've also been surfing the Web to find all I can).
I look forward to learning from all of you and hope that in the
future I can return the favor...
