Is there any Scouters in Europe that perhaps help this Scouter make contacts
with the Transatlantic Council?
Thanks, Olan Watkins

Sb: JAMBO97 Jambo 97-How can I get there from here?
Hello to my friends in Scouting!
My name is Lamar Nichols. My e-mail address is email@example.com. I was
formerly an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 430 in Spokane, WA in the Inland
I have been recently (in the last nine months) relocated with the company I
work for to north Wales in the United Kingdom. I have become what is
referred to as a "fully warranted scout leader" in a village troop that my
son Nick and I are active with on the island of Anglesey (out in the Irish
I have no past Jamboree experience, but have always wished that my parents
would have been able to send me when I was a scout. I now have a twelve year
old son that earned his First Class rank before we left the States; and we
would like to attend the '97 Jamboree.
Because of the rather remote location of where we currently live, I have not
been able to establish any relationship with the Transatlantic Council of the
BSA, and therefore don't know if we could participate as part of a contingent
from Europe. Also, I have not been successful in connecting with anyone
within the Welsh or UK scouting groups that may be planning to attend.
As time is getting ever so close to the event, I am frantically asking for
any ideas that if pursued would result in my son and I being able to attend
the Jamboree. Can anyone out there offer any other contacts that might be
able to help us?
For whatever it may be worth, my son has been in scouts starting as a Tiger
Cub, through Cubs and Webelos. He was active in our troop in Spokane and has
been on several camping and canoeing weekends. He has been on a fifty miler
canoe/camp and has spent a week at a Camp Cowles, BSA camp. My wife and I
have been involved in a Pack or Troop since 1989. I am an Eagle Scout
(1971), OA, and hope to be in Spokane to receive Wood Badge beads with my
Bear Patrol in February '97.
We are prepared to do whatever we might need to do to be able to attend this
once in a lifetime experience. Can someone help us get there from here?
Awaiting your reply and YIS,
A. Lamar Nichols
