The _actual_ situation for our Council is.........
The Trails End patch or pin is counted toward $60.00 worth of sales. So far
as the choice of 4 prizes at each level, if a Cub wants a patch or pin *and*
a prize, $60.00 is subtracted from his sales total, and the remaining amount
is the qualifying prize level. Our Pack elected for cash, with proceeds to
be used for a Pack flag, and 1/2 going back to the dens.

Second, there is a wide set of differences in how each Council seems to be
handling their sales and patches/prizes. Since we are a Cub Pack, merit
badges do not apply, but the boys receive credit toward their achievements.
My personal view is to have the Pack support the cost of badges, just as we
do for advancements, and not have $60.00 removed from their sales total that
applies for prizes. This, however, is in the hands of the Council, not the
