I don't want to drag this out into a prolonged exchange so I will state
my reactions as briefly as possible.

I live within 90 minutes of Chicago. More publicity will arise from a
local newspaper story than my troop's homepage. The local paper prints
thousands of copies, since July my troop homepage has been accessed less
than a hundred times. National magazines such as Boys Life carry photos
and Scout names which distributes more than 1,000,000 copies.
The information listed in publication will be fairly limited, but the
information listed on most unit homepages is very limited as well. If we
are talking about just the boy's name appearing on the internet I don't
see a major problem.
I understand the concern (I think) and don't mean to attack anyone who
speaks out in the interest of youth protection. But I am still not
convinced it's necessary to watch over the internet for security leaks of

Excellent point. Before any ugly rumors get started, I want to clear up
this issue. To the best of my knowledge, Kim is still a man, and has
been a lifelong member of that gender. Any suggestions to the contrary
were purely unintentional.
I appreciate Tim's concern for the well being of children and share that
concern with him. Where we differ is the extent as to what is needed to
Full names or partial names on the Internet, I don't believe either will
make an impact on youth protection. That of course is only an opinion,
and each is entitled to their own.
I respect what Tim is saying, I just don't agree with it.
