A co-worker of mine recieived an email of the type you mentioned in your post.
We don't know how he got on their "list" either. His response was to report
the mail to the System Administrator at AOL. He received a reply two days
ago that stated that they were already aware of the email and that the 3
accounts from which the emails were sent had all been terminated and criminal
investigation is under way.
My advice to anyone that gets such unsolicited garbage email is to NOT reply
directly to the sender, but to the ROOT or POSTMASTER account at the site
tha the mail came from. Or, in the case of AOL, send your complaint to
ABUSE@AOL.COM. They will usually take these sorts of things *very* seriously
because they may be criminally liable if they do not...
