I can remember that when I was a scout, my mom thought of such a merit
badge and may actually have written something up and sent it in.
Especially now that the requirements for some things have changed, I
think its a good idea again. I can't tell you how many people fresh out
of college or whatever that I meet in my work that don't know a thing
about taking care of themself.
Plan a menu for your family for a week.
Do the shopping for this menu.
Set up a budget for the family food for one month.
Cook for your family one meal per week for one month.
Sew the following, either by hand or on a machine:
a uniform patch
a hole in a sock
Buy a pattern and sew something useful for yourself or a family member.
Explain the dangers of uncleanliness in the home.
Take on the responisibility (if you don't already) of cleaning at least
one room of your home once per week for one month (not including your own
room). This can include a bathroom, the kitchen, or other non-bedrooms.
Wash your clothes and iron them properly aftwerward for one month.
I know I'm leaving things out.
If anyone wants to work on this more, feel free to e-mail my mom:
