As Advan Chair can I make this policy.

Hello I am the Advancement Chair for a troop of about 55 scouts and we
hold BoR's about every 6 weeks... Recently we have a number of new
Scouts who's parents seem very intend on rapid advancement ie they want
them to receive both their Tenderfoot and 2nd Class ranks at the same time...
Now I know that is is "legal" but I don't like to do this.. As the boys
are only 11 years old I wonder what is the rush.. I feel that something
can be gained by being a Tenderfoot...if only for six weeks...
also... in the idea of "Show Scout Spirt" under 2nd Class... can
not/does not this mean as a Tenderfoot or can't it be inturpreted this
Please do know that I am very PRO advancement and make a point of
reminding Scouts that they only need a knot signed off or something like
that to advance.... so I am nto trying to keep anyone down...
and that our troop averages about 4 new Eagles each year so, again... we
understand advancement and aid the Scouts with it.... It is just my
beluef that something is to be gained along the trail.. rather than just
rushing to the top of the mount....
any opinions and/or guidance woudl be greatly appreciate
