In response to several messages about propane tanks I would like to submit my
The 1 lb tanks are refillable. (refilled tanks cannot be sold though)
There is a valve set that allows you to connect the 2 tanks, and makes the
filling of the 1lb cans very easy.
My local Northern store (also have major catalog sales) sells a valve for
approx $12.99 that makes this feasible.
At Showando last month one of the Wood Badge patrols had this valve, and gave us
some pointers if we wish to refill tanks.
1. only expect to get the 1 lb tanks approx 80% full without using any
2. You will be able to fill the 1 lb cans better if they are cool while the
source tank is warm (don't heat it up), but rather leave the 1lb cans in the
shade and the big tank in the sunlight for a while before filling.
I personally do not have any experience with these devices, but I will be making
the investment when my current 6 pack of 1 lb cans runs out.
As a side note there is also mention of this type of device in one of my books
at home, if you want specifics I will research this evening.
