Great ideas about sewing! I started a thread :) about sewing patches over a
year ago and received only a moderate amount of useful responses.
One suggestion that I do remember is to teach the Scout to sew the patch
through the border area. Patches are often backed by a hard glue that is
used to keep the embroidery thread from fraying. This glue makes it hard to
push the needle through and causes frustration with beginners. On many
patches, by sewing in the border area, one can avoid the glue.
