I would be interested in seeing the text of leadership contracts out there;
I have been following the discussion with interest and it sounds like
something we might want to try.
On a related topic:
We have elections every 6 - 9 months and are coming up on 6 months since our
last ones. One of our leaders suggested handling elections a little
differently. Instead of electing the SPL we will hold elections for the
ASPL. He will serve in that position for 6 months and then move up to the
The advantage would be that the incoming SPL would have had 6 months working
with his predecessor and could be better trained. Disadvantages would be
that election would be a 12 month commitment and that the SPL could not be
re-elected (he could, however, be elected ASPL and start over again).
This is the pattern followed by several organizations I know of; someone is
elected Vice President/President-elect and serves 1 term as VP and one as
Pres. It sounds like it could work for a Troop but I have my doubts. Has
anyone else tried a scheme like this and how did it work out?
