I hate to see Wally World in a bad light. Our local store has been a big
help to our Troop. We sell Christmas trees in December as our fund
raiser and as you may guess, Wally sells trees also. They have let us
have an area of their lot to compete with them and have also told us
what kind of trees they will be selling so that we can counter with
different ones. The folks in Ark. require them to sell trees and the local
manager must do as told, but he does have some leeway.
On the other hand, Lowe's ( owned and operated by K-Mart) told us to
get screwed (Paraphrasing). They are coming to our fare city and plan to
make a profit. They want to compete with Wally and the Scoiuts are on
their own. I for one will not step foot in a Lowe's until they start helping
out the community they have come to aquire.
Wal-Mart does a fairly good job in most areas and you can't say they
don't help. Thousands of dollars are donated to the Childrens Network
Telethon each year. Wally gets alot of calls from every charity out there
because they are the big guys on the block now and they can't help
everybody. Our store isn't perfect and we can't expect them to be.
