In response to the thought that car manufacturers should be more realistic in
the design of airbags, and possibly allow the driver to disconnect
The design and lack of disconnect has been dictated to the manufacturers by
the Department of Transportaiton. My understanding, based on recent naitonal
news braodcasts, is the manufacturers *are* aware of the problem, and have
petitioned the DOT for a new design so that the bags do not inflate hitting
the passengers at 200+ miles per hour.
Disconnect a safety device????
