Actually, I have seen many patch vests and such, at camporees and things,
on both adults and boys.
I think that difference lies not on what they are displayed, but who is
displaying them. By this, I mean the boy himself. If he is proud of his
accomplishments, or simply wants to show off a little (as many of our
boys do), he will find a "cool" way to display his wares. If not, the
patch will go in a drawer somewhere "lost and gone forever."
Displaying ptaches, like collecting various items (inluding patches and
pins) goes through fads and phases. We mayt be in a lower phase of
"non-display" right now. It'll come back.
All of mine are on a blanket that I use for camping. They are sewn on
but also "ironed-on" with some stuff I got at a fabric store. Several
in my troop are thinking of doing this themselves.
