Check with your council office. The laws on this vary from state to
state. In Mississippi, Boy Scout Troops are exempt from paying sales
tax on items they purchase and from collecting sales tax on items
they sell. They do not need to apply for an exemption, or keep any
special sales tax records. Some states may require you to apply for
a sales tax exemption and/or keep special records of sales.
In any case, the folks at the council office should be familiar with
the requirements in your state.
