Splitting a Den

Thank you all for the wonderful advice. All of the returns have been along
the line of "Why split them up if it's working?"
To throw a couple of curves into the thought process. I goofed up (like
THAT never happens) and apparently mis-read the original den leader. Yes,
she was involved in all the "informal discussions", but restricted her
comments to "yes that is a lot of boys" types.
The split was suggested by one of the parents in her den and the previous
cm (who is the other webelo den leader). Further, just 7 of the 12
actually earned their Bear rank last year.
My gut feel is to keep the den together, ask that the parents who
volunteered to run the new den commit to being at all the den meetings
(just like if they had a whole new den), close my ears to "suggested
norms", get the program moving, and get the boys having some fun!
Yes, it is cold!
