awards for leaders

Just adding my .02 to Dee's posting about leader awards.
Yes, we do this for the boys, and not for the awards we get, BUT if the
adults put in the time and effort. RECOGNIZE them. I wear my leader knots
(I call them battle scars). The boys always ask about them and now that
I have two boys in my pack who have earned their religious knot...they
really think knots are something. I try to make sure all my adult leaders
who earned the Arrow of Light in their youth get the knot. It drives the
boys interest up, and the guys, while looking embarrassed and shuffling their
feet when i gave them their AOL knot, had them sewn on by the next pack
Our district (no fault of training chair), is extremely slow on getting
the knots and certificates back to us. I have been waiting *8* months for
some awards. I asked the training chair if I could give out the knots at
our B&G for these leaders, since she knows the paperwork was in process,
she had no problem with it. I'm glad I did.
Sometimes in training, the new leader may not realize they have a training
sheet to keep up with, or they may not have received it. I try to keep
up with all my leaders and usually know what training they have. I also
know when tenure is up. I fill it out and submit everything at one time to
