I'd be inclined to agree, technically, that the 8 methods probably didn't
originate with BP. Undoubtedly they follow very closely the spirit of
everything BP set up, Scouting for Boys and so forth, but I know that the
Aims, Principle and Methods of the Scout Association of Australia are
somewhat different to the BSA "8 methods" as I have seen stated here, and I
suspect each country's scout association will have its own slightly
different variation. Had BP "carved in stone" a list of 8 methods I would
expect there to be little or no variation from one country to another.
Having said that, however, I would stress that while there may not be a list
of 8 methods written by BP that matches word for word what is used by any of
our associations, I'm sure nobody would dispute that each country's stated
"methods" will closely follwo the _spirit_ of everything that BP taught.
