This is a POLITICALLY INCORRECT NON SCOUT SONG. It does not contain any
vulgarity or inuendo - pass this message by if you are not interested.
PLEASE READ THE NOTES THAT GO WITH THE SONG IF YOU ARE.
This was shared in a private moment when I was at National Camp School this
summer, it was attributed to the Boxwell Scout Reservation circa 1962. I
know we sang a few songs back then that would be politically incorrect
today. I wouldn't sing this one for Scouts but it is a good example of
harmony and enthusiasm. I was in Aquatics school, maybe thats why the song
I present this in the spirit of those who want to understand what people
(men and boys) sing when there's not so many people around. Again if you
find this inappropriate or offensive don't say I didn't warn you
u The rest is down here
The Little Brown Mouse
tune: unknown (but tell me if you know it)
Well, The liquor was spilt on the barroom floor and the bar was closed for
When, out of the corner came the little brown mouse and he sat in the pale
He, lapped up the liquor on the barroom floor and back on his haunches he sat.
And, all through the night you could hear him roar... Bring on the ole
Well, out from the corner came the ole tomcat and he gobbled up the little
And, the moral of this story is... Never take a drink on the house.
musical note: draw out the lenght of the first word of each sentence.
"Well, When, He, etc." should be drawn out about as long as the 1st half of
roar... & is... were printed this way because there is a hold on this note
(word) and that phrase ends in a higher note.
Ed. note: Actually I know the tune but it may be unique to this song. If
your really that desperate call me up and I'll sing it to you, I've done
stranger things. Quite and interesting tune which would seem appropriate
for a large number of male voices.
Haven't made up my mind whether this one goes in the book or not, but its a
fun tune and really isn't as bad as the origional version of "It Ain't
Gonna Rain No More" which I did ioncluse in the book.
