The Mobile Area Council CSP has the 6 flags that have flown over the
City of Mobile in it's near 300 year history. One of those 6 is the
_Battleflag of the Confederacy_. I remember several other councils CSP's
have it also, bit without looking through my whole collection I really
couldn't say for sure. I know Tuckabatchee's (Montgomery, AL) old CSP
had the Alabama state flag in the background. That is the red diagonal
cross with the white background. There newer CSP has a red field, with
a blue arching bar running across it with 14 white stars. From a far
distance, it could be mistaken for a Battleflag.
Strictly off the record, I have heard that there is a faction that
would like to see us change our CSP. Haven't heard anything from a
Professional type in about 2-1/2 years. I do know that several patch
designs in the last few years (camporee and such) had the battleflag
removed before sent to the manufacturer.
As for the State of Alabama, the Battleflag was removed with much
controversy from the State Capital several years ago. Many city and
county governments still fly it, although some have taken to flying
the regular Confederate States of America which doesn't resemble the
Stars and Bars.
