I don't know any places to recommend for weekend activities, but for summer
camp, I highly recommend Haliburton Scout Reserve. HSR is Greater Toronto
Region's camp about 2.5 hours north of Toronto. This is primitive camping
at its best. There is no central dining hall; you cook all of your own
meals. The staff offers a smorgasbord of activities that you choose from
to build your program or you can do your own thing. You can utilize the
staff to help you with a program for younger Scouts while the older Scouts
can be backpacking or canoe camping. I've been to Haliburton twice as a
Scout and this summer I went back as an adult. The troop had a blast and
I'm already planning to go back.
PS GTR has an 800 number you can call for information. Ask them to send
you the free video on Haliburton Scout Reserve.
