I think I have stated this before but it may have been missed, according
to the Tiger Cub Family Activity Book page 3 Paragraph 8 one orange bead for
each den activity completed and one white bead for each five family activities
completed. Not Pack events.
The beads can still be given out at Pack meetings, they just aren't for
So I'm back to apologizes for the mix-up. I've got to stop doing my E-mail
after 11:00 p.m. Where I got confused is that the class was pushing HEAVILY
that the second Tiger Den Meeting be the Pack meeting. The Tiger Track being
for the Go-&-See-It, the orange bead would then be for the second activity,
which they were stressing should be the Pack Meeting.
So, if your TC Den is meeting as they were saying, I'm not too far off,
orange bead would be for the Pack Meeting, because that is the second meeting.
But if the TC Den is holding a separate TC Den meeting that is not the Pack
meeting, and the beads are being awarded at the Pack meeting, it is possible
for the boy to earn a bead and miss its presentation. And this could be a
problem. There is no "book solution" to this, but if the second meeting is
occurring after the Pack Meeting, maybe the TC Coach could show-up and present
the beads. They are suppose to be checking in occasionally and giving Bobcat
lessons, esp. by Spring.
The other thing that was being stress (Even more heavily) is that the TC
program is a partnership. If the TC's are to sing a song at the Pack Meeting,
the Partners better be up there with the Boys. If the TC's sell popcorn, the
Partner better be going with the boy. If the Den is making a craft, the
Partner is working with the boy, not watching him. This is part of the
reasoning, that the TC should not be racing in the Pinewood Derby against
Wolves, etc. The Partner is doing the work on the car with the boy, and
because of the level of ability of the boy, probably doing more of it than
would be allowed for Wolves, etc. Actually JoAnne said TC shouldn't be
building cars at all, but either racing already built cars or "Creepy
Crawlies". But I know how that idea wouldgo over in this district - Lead
In trying to determine what enhancements to make, a careful study of dro
points was made. Surprisingly, overall the loss between Tiger/Wolf,
Wolf/Bear, Bear/Webelos, and during Webelos was remarkably even. The only
time Tiger Cubs seemed to affect the drop-out rate was in those areas that had
gone even farther with the TC's and made them a true Den with weekly meetings,
blue shirts, the works. That is why they didn't add the Sports/Academic
program to the TC program and kept the recommended number of meeting at
