How close to 18 is he? If there is time before his 18th
birthday, welcome him back to the troop and see if he able and willing
to take the leadership position. Once a Scout, always a Scout.

>Need some advise. A young man, now almost 18 has approached troop about
>getting his eagle. He completed all badge requirements and eagle project
>over 4 years ago and then dropped out of troop, apparantly because of family
>problems. Apparantly had an Eagle BOR over 4 years ago but was not passed
>as he had not met the leadership requirments. No one has seen or heard from
>him in the last four years until he surfaced yesterday by calling SM. How
>do we handle this? He apparantly has done the work, but the leadership
>problem probably still exists. Any and all comments very welcome.
