Having allready expressed my views on what constitutes a "dignified"
flag retirement, allow me to propose an idea for everyone similarly
disgusted by the faded dishrags being flown on some flagpoles.
How about approaching the business, nicely mentioning their tattered
flag? Appeal to their patriotism. Appeal to pride (it doesn't look good
in front of your nice building). Appeal to efficiency (mabye they
don't have someone who realizes/has time). . . .and offer to remove/
retire the flag FOR THEM. . . .Yup. A little troop service project..
A real savvy troop might even invite someone from the business to
the ceremony. Nothing like building those bridges you might need later.
It worked at my employer.
